The Richmond Society
Awards
You may have noticed this brass plaque on buildings in the
town. The Richmond Society has been awarding these since 1977,
when our concern for quality and sensitivity in the conservation
and development of Richmond led us to introduce the Annual Awards
scheme. It has three objectives:
- To stimulate local interest in current conservation and development
projects.
- To make a formal acknowledgement of those projects which
make a positive contribution to amenity.
- To encourage the implementation of such projects in the future.
Each year we invite nominations from our members for schemes
completed in the previous twelve months and our Committees carry
out a final assessment of eligible projects for brass plaques
or certificates of commendation. The Awards Presentation in the
early autumn of each year has now become a key event in the Society's
calendar.
