RSPCA Fountain, Richmond Hill, restored by the SocietyEnvironmental Improvements

The Richmond Society plays a major rôle in identifying and raising funds for environmental improvements, and seeing them through to completion.

In 2004, we funded, designed and arranged for the installation of an information board describing the historical development of the Old Deer Park at the river end of Old Palace Lane.

Past projects have included:

  • Provision of information boards for visitors to the Richmond Hill Terrace, Riverside and Richmond Green.
  • Restoration of the RSPCA Fountain at the top of Richmond Hill, pictured right.
  • Repaving and landscaping of the area at the top of Albany Passage behind St Matthias Church, including restoration of the original telephone box.
  • Restoration and re-siting of the 18th Century Coadestone River God statue in the Terrace Gardens.
  • Preservation of the traditional telephone boxes on The Green and at the top of Vineyard Passage.
  • Restoration of the milestone on Kew Road at the junction with Church Road.

We are always interested in receiving ideas for future projects.
